Directions:

Place onions, butter, sugar and salt in bottom of slow cooker. Cover and cook for 7 hours on high, or until onions are soft and brown.

Add broth, sherry, thyme and pepper. cover, cook on high for 1 hour.

Ladle soup into microwave safe bowl, top with croutons and slice of cheese. Microwave until cheese is melted. Let rest a minute or two, serve.
