Pour buttermilk over oatmeal and allow to soak while mixing the dry ingredients. Add egg and sugar to oatmeal mixture and combine well.

In a medium bowl, combine the dry ingredients and mix together well. Pour in the melted butter; stir. Add dried fruit. Combine all ingredients and stir together just until mixed.

Pour into muffin pan and bake 15-20 minutes. Makes 12-14 muffins.
