In a large sauce pan over a medium heat, heat the oil. Add the onion, carrot, celery, and thyme; cook until the vegetables are soft (5 minutes) Add the broccoli and broth. Increase heat to high and bring to a boil; reduce heat to medium-low, cover and simmer until the broccoli is tender (25 minutes) Remove from heat and add the lemon juice, let cool for 10 minutes.
